About Us

Carl Ginsburg, Ph.D. has been teaching in and later directing professional training groups for people interested in becoming Feldenkrais Practitioners since 1986. During his training with Moshe Feldenkrais (1975-77), he began writing about the Feldenkrais Method drawing on his experience with a number of somatic (mind-body) practices, and his background in science (his Ph.D. in chemistry was awarded in 1964 from Ohio University). He has always loved supporting people in learning and since the late 1960s sought out alternatives to the schooling that we all commonly receive. While his choice to study with Moshe Feldenkrais was a practical way to improve his own chronic back problems, he also intuited that Feldenkrais understood learning and the mind-body complex in more depth than any other teaching he had explored in his life. This assessment is still true for him today, and his continuing work with students and clients bares this out.

Lucia Schuette-Ginsburg came to the Feldenkrais Method when she wanted to help her young son who was born with a twist in his neck and suffered with chronic headaches. She found a Feldenkrais Practitioner in Frankfurt Germany where they were living, who seeming miraculously brought her son to a much better state of him self. She wanted to find out what this method was for her self and attended a workshop with the practitioner’s teacher, Mia Segal, who was Moshe Feldenkrais’ first assistant. Mia became her teacher and she graduated from Mia Segal’s second Feldenkrais Training in Holland in 1990. Lucia, who now also teaches in Feldenkrais trainings as an assistant, loves working with children. She is fascinated with the question as to how children learn in their natural environment and what amazing capabilities they have. She joined the group that founded the Frankfurt Free School, and was also a special education teacher for the Frankfurt School System for children unable to attend the normal school as a result of sickness or serious injury.
